The Senegal Dwarf Goat, also called the African Dwarf Goat, is a small domestic goat belonging to the Bovidae family.

Physical Description

This goat is easily recognizable by its small size and compact silhouette. Its coat is short and can vary in color, ranging from light brown to black, often marked with white or beige patches. It has short curved horns, present in both males and females, although those of males are generally larger. Its ears are small and upright, and its muzzle is often dark.

Size and Weight

The Senegal Dwarf Goat measures approximately 40 to 50 cm at the withers and weighs between 15 and 25 kg, making it one of the smallest goat breeds in the world.

Additional Information

Originating from the Sahelian and sub-Saharan regions of West Africa, this goat is particularly well adapted to hot climates and arid environments. It is hardy and can survive with few resources, making do with sparse vegetation and small amounts of water.
