Size and weight

There are several varieties of guinea pigs, differentiated by the texture and length of their coat: smooth, rosette, angora, or rex. Their coat can display a wide diversity of colors, ranging from white to black, with solid, spotted, or tricolor patterns. An adult measures between 20 and 30 cm long and weighs approximately 700 to 1,200 grams.

Diet

The guinea pig is herbivorous, feeding mainly on hay, fresh vegetables, and adapted pellets. It is essential to provide it with vitamin C daily, as its body cannot synthesize it.

Additional information

A gregarious animal, it appreciates the company of other guinea pigs and develops a close bond with its owners. Very popular as a pet, it is particularly suitable for families thanks to its calm nature and ease of handling. With proper care, it can live between 5 and 8 years.
