Green-winged Macaw

The green-winged macaw is a species of the Psittacidae family. It is native to Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, Paraguay, and Argentina. It lives in the dry tropical forests of northern Ecuador and eats fruits, seeds and leaves. With rare exceptions, the green-winged macaw is poorly distributed throughout its range. Until recently, Guyana was a leader in the number of captures of young chicks in the nest. Fortunately, since 1993, this country has banned the commercial trafficking of this species. In Europe it is listed in the Washington Convention in Annex II.
