Northern Pintail

The Northern Pintail is a duck of the anatidae family.
The adult male is recognizable at first glance. Its chocolate-brown head is marked at the back by a white stripe that rises from the side of the neck. The hindquarters are distinctly bicolored, cream-white and black with a clear vertical separation. The tail, long and pointed, is bicolored, white with black edges.
The adult female, like other female ducks, has discreet brown plumage. It is recognized by its slender silhouette that resembles the male, long thin neck, long pointed tail. The distinctly reddish head and steel-gray bill are good identification criteria. The rest of the plumage is in shades of brown.
