Diet
Endemic to Oceania, it is found in plains and middle mountains, as well as mangroves. It feeds on seeds, fruits, flowers, buds, and especially nectar, which it enjoys.
Conservation and threats
It has the particularity of having almost all the colors of the rainbow in its plumage. It is a very common bird. Locally, it can be very abundant. In some regions, it is the most common parrot. In places where it can benefit from flowering trees and fruits, it is a species in full expansion. However, it has a very bad reputation because it damages orchards. In certain places in Australia, it is hunted for its meat and its feathers are later used in ritual ceremonies. It is listed in Appendix II of the Washington Convention.
